Professional Training for Teachers
Education and community awareness is a vital part of Eating Disorders Victoria role in Victoria.
EDV provides workshops and professional development for people working in education (primary, secondary and tertiary).
Half-day professional training workshops on Understanding and Managing Eating Disorders, and Preventing Eating Disorders and Promoting Positive Body Image are run regularly by EDV at central Melbourne locations, and can be run for individual schools or groups of schools. Other workshops are tailored to meet the needs of the client group.
Workshops include PowerPoint and multimedia presentations, case studies and experiential activities.
Most workshops cover the following content:
- Types of eating disorders
- Warning signs
- Risk factors
- Treatment options and recovery
- Intervention
- Prevention
Other content areas can be included after discussion with EDV staff.
