Finding Hope
Eating Disorders Victoria's Finding Hope is a special, day-long version of the skills-based learning program Building Hope for parents, siblings (15 years and over), partners, other family members and friends of a loved one with an eating disorder.
This day-long program builds empathy, promotes understanding, shows you how to use reflective listening skills, recognises that consistent, compassionate and calm communication assists your loved one with recovery and a collaborative problem solving approach enhances the idea that change is possible.
The program aims to assist you to:
-
Learn more about eating disorders and how they are maintained
-
Manage your personal reactions to the eating disorder
-
Understand how to provide a supportive and positive environment
-
Build vital skills for supporting your loved one through the recovery process
-
Meet and share experiences with other carers who have similar concerns
