CARE: Caring About Recovery Events
Eating Disorders Victoria has received funding from the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust for a project called ‘Caring about Recovery Events (CARE)’.
CARE is a unique project to provide families and carers of people with eating disorders with information, strong practical skills and a network of support. These events, held in different locations across metropolitan Melbourne, are open to all members of the community.
They are generally attended by people with an eating disorder or at risk, family and friends of people with an eating disorder and local health and welfare professionals.
We are in the position of being able to offer free of charge, speakers who can address topics such as Healthy Eating, Preventing Eating Disorder’s, Early intervention, Promoting Positive Body Image, Celebrating Diversity.
The target group is broad encompassing both males and females of any age or nationality.
The Purpose Of CARE:
-Raise awareness in the community about eating disorders and body image issues.
-Raise awareness in the community about the work of Eating Disorders Victoria and how we can help people with an eating disorder and families and friends.
-Provide hope for recovery and promote help seeking behaviour.
-Provide support for carers of people with eating disorders and body image issues.
Since inception in August 2010 EDV has delivered CARE Events in the following regions;
Moonee Valley, Maroondah, Manningham, Kingston, Hopper’s Crossing, Melbourne, Boroondara, City of Yarra, Maribyrnong, Seymour, Shepparton, Benalla, Casey, Hume, Melton, Whitehorse, Yarra Ranges, Glen Eira, Nillumbik, Banyule, Darebin.
In the latter half of 2011 CARE Events will be held in the following regions:
Cardinia, Frankston, Stonnington, Bayside, Monash, Melbourne, Hobson’s Bay, Knox, Horsham, Stawell, Whittlesea & Boroondara.
